Syngas cleaning system designed to remove H2S and CO2 from 35 MMSCFD (41,300 Nm³/hr) of sour syngas by using Warm Gas Desulfurization Process. The syngas cleaning system includes the following process units.
(1) High Temperature Desulfurization Unit (HTDP)
In this unit, two reactors coupled and operating in a fashion similar to that of FCC reactors used in crude oil catalytic cracking reduce H2S from 7,200 ppmv to less than 10 ppmv.
(2) Water Gas Shift Unit (WGS)
In the WGS reactors, the carbon monoxide in the desulfurized syngas is converted
to CO2 in three fixed bed reactors operating in parallel mode with respect to the gas
feed and in series as the output of each of the reactors feeds the next in sequence.
(3) Low Temperature Gas Cooling Unit (LTGC)
The WGS reactors effluent is cooled in the LTGC system which consists of heat
exchangers generating both medium and low pressure steam. The gas from the
shift reactor is further cooled to before entering the Amine system.
(4) Amine Absorption Unit
The Amine Absorption unit uses a BASF proprietary activated amine to absorb CO2
and H2S.
