Project Overview
Tronox had idled sodium chlorate and ammonium perchlorate plants in Henderson, Nevada containing equipment and structures it no longer needed. Phoenix Equipment purchased the assets and assumed responsibility for complete removal of the equipment and associated structures at no cost to Tronox. The approximately $1.75 million project ran from March through September 2009.

The Challenge
The challenge was to recover enough value from reusable equipment and recyclable materials to support complete removal of both idled plants and associated structures without passing the dismantlement cost back to Tronox.
Equipment Recovery, Dismantlement & Recycling
Phoenix sold several major pieces of equipment for relocation, including a crystallizer system, calciner, and 75-foot rotary dryer. Phoenix also recycled approximately 200,000 pounds of non-ferrous material and 1,500 tons of ferrous material while completing removal of the remaining equipment and structures.
Project Highlights
Recovering Equipment Value Before Dismantlement
By selling major process equipment for relocation and recovering value from ferrous and non-ferrous materials, Phoenix was able to support the complete removal of both idled plants without passing the dismantlement cost back to Tronox.
