Project Overview
Harcros Chemicals had a 250 TPD nitric acid plant in Vicksburg, Mississippi, along with a 300,000-gallon tank farm that needed to be removed as part of the site clearance.
Phoenix Equipment purchased the nitric acid plant and tank farm, then sold the complete plant for relocation to Asia. Phoenix managed the match-marking, dismantlement, and packing required for the international move while also removing the tank farm. The approximately $2 million project ran from April through October 2008.

The Challenge
Harcros needed to recover value from the shutdown plant while clearing the site on a schedule tied to its DEP commitments and planned site rebuilding. Selling the plant for continued use offered greater recovery potential than reducing the facility to scrap, but required the process equipment to be carefully documented, dismantled, and prepared for relocation, while the 300,000-gallon tank farm also had to be removed as part of the overall site clearance.
Plant Sale, Match-Marking & Relocation
Phoenix purchased the complete 250 TPD nitric acid plant and secured a buyer for relocation to Asia. To prepare the plant for relocation, Phoenix managed the match-marking, dismantlement, and packing of the process equipment before shipment.
The relocation work was coordinated with removal of the tank farm so the plant could be prepared for shipment while the Harcros site was cleared.
Project Outcome
Harcros received far-above-scrap value for the nitric acid plant while avoiding the cost of clearing the site itself. Phoenix completed the plant dismantlement and tank farm removal in time for Harcros to meet its DEP commitments and planned rebuilding schedule.

Recovering Plant Value While Meeting a Site Clearance Schedule
The Harcros project combined complete-plant resale with a defined site clearance schedule. By finding an international buyer and managing the match-marking, dismantlement, packing, and tank farm removal, Phoenix helped Harcros recover far-above-scrap value while clearing the site in time to meet its DEP commitments and rebuilding schedule.
